Premiere of Los Amores de Marte y Venus in Havana, Cuba.
Danza Contemporanea de Cuba presented the premiere of Los Amores de Marte y Venus (The Loves of Mars and Venus) at the Gran Teatro, Havana on Friday 28th September. The work follows choreographer John Weavers’ description of his original work from 1717 and has original music by Steve Blake, design by Simon Vicenzi and lighting by Simon Corder.
Los Amores De Marte Y Venus
Lea has been commissioned by the British Council to create a new work for Danza Contemporanea de Cuba in Havana. The new piece is based on a work by English choreographer John Weaver (1673-1760) entitled The Loves of Mars & Venus, which was premiered in London in 1717. Lea is working with 25 dancers with new music by Steve Blake, costume and staging design by Simon Vincenzi and lighting design by Simon Corder. The work will receive its premiere in Havana at the Alicia Alonso Theatre in Havana on the 28th September 2018.

Trying It On
Lea Anderson’s Trying It On will be performed as part of The Bristol Museum and Art Gallery’s Museum At Night on May 16th 2018. It will be a performed exhibition of a selection of costumes from The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs’ archives, which are housed in BV Studios Bristol, performed by 6 dancers with a sound track by Steve Blake. The costumes will include designs by Sandy Powell, Emma Fryer and Simon Vincenzi.

Full Bloom Festival: Evening Performance
Full Bloom Festival – join Gerry’s Attic over 55’s Dance Company for their evening performance.
7:00pm: A discussion panel with speakers from Pavilion Dance South West, LinkAge and Lea Anderson, talking about dance for older people.
7:30pm: Interval
8:00pm: Come and see a dazzling performance showcasing the tireless work of Gerry’s Attic Dance company, including a new piece. – Flying Head and Monkey Boy, by Lea Anderson with guest performances from Yama ad Striking Attitudes.
Prices and Admission: Tickets for the evening performance are £7. This evening’s performances are part of the Full Bloom Festival which includes daytime workshops.

Ladies & Gentlemen Autumn Tour Begins
Excerpts of Ladies & Gentlemen were presented at the Festival of Thrift in Redcar this weekend. The show in its entirety will open this week at Chapter Arts in Cardiff, – September 28, 29, 30. The work will then be touring through October.
